Project Type: Competition
Location: Loop, Chicago
Year: Fall 2015
Project Brief: This is the entry for the Chi-Design Competition. This was an IDEAS competition that was meant to think about the ever-growing design culture in Chicago. The program included a design high school for 500 kids, work spaces for after school programs, the new CAF HQ, and the the new CTBUH HQ.
In order to encourage cross-disciplinary encounters, the building becomes a shape-shifting organism that may change at any given day/week. The programs are not fixed to a space but is dictated and assigned by how many users are present at the time. The circulation is always shifting and a series of elevator cores are spread throughout the structure for travel efficiency. It creates a dynamic working environment and promotes the exchange of design culture between people.
